A Friday night at the William IV is quite often a busy, bustling, loud affair. There are happening tunes played at the usual Friday night volume for the benefit of the young trendy local clientele, the lighting is suitably dimmed and the atmosphere is friendly and laid back. Drinks are average-high London prices. There is a choice of beers on hand pump, so it is a pity the cellarmanship is not up to scratch. The food is tapas and is original and tasty, however eaters are urged to confine themselves to the brightly lit, quiet back room making this a bit of a pub of two halves. It does have outdoor seating for the summer, and plenty of evening activities during the week, but you get the impression this is a pub that's trying a little too hard to be something for everyone.
