how to find it:
On leaving Highbury and Islington tube, turn right, walk towards the crossing at the top of Upper Street, cross it and walk towards the Ford dealership. Just before you get to the car showroom there is a narrower road on your right, turn down it and the pub is a short distance down on the left.

We've always had the impression that this pub likes to think it's somewhere out in the wilds of Surrey or Sussex and, come to that, so do the locals. But that's OK and it certainly does look after its beer really well, with an extensive and ever-changing range of bitters on the hand pumps ready for your delectation. It's a tiny place that fills up very, very easily, though the street outside and the compact beer garden at the back doing their best to cope with the overflow. Decent grub, a wide range of punters and the sort of traditional pub atmosphere you won't find on the nearby Upper Street. A very fine place.
