how to find it:
Leave Sloane Square tube, cross Sloane Square, and go straight up Sloane Street. Keep going for 5 minutes, then turn right down Pont Street. Follow this road as it changes into Chesham Place. Belgrave Mews West is on your left, just past the German Embassy.

Some would have you think (wrongly, we believe) that the Great Train Robbers supped here whilst pondering their scheme, but the Star Tavern doesn't need any hackneyed gangster chic to attract the punters. Being quite small it's not the place for a rowdy night out, but you get a good selection of Fullers ales and traditional pub food, served up by attentive staff who seem genuinely chuffed that you're frequenting their pub. Also, the clientele is a bit more mixed than other boozers in the area. It can be a bit of a trek finding this place, and it can fill up rapidly, but it's definitely worth a look. Lovely upstairs bar as well as the smallest gents toilets in London.
