O's Bar, Crouch End  

Attached to a noodle bar, this is part of the empire of O, who also has his Thai Cafe nearer to the centre of Crouch End, and was in years past the Bird in the Hand. O's Bar has the distinct advantage of a late licence, providing solace to the put-upon drinkers of N8 until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays, when it can get very busy, although tends towards quiet the rest of the time. On the down side, it's a rather poor experience for the drinker: no bitter of any description, although there's the standard range of fighting strength lagers through to (untested) cocktails. The decor is based on the early 70s idea of futuristic, with brilliantly white walls and high barstools that no doubt provide amusement to the staff, but are pretty uncomfortable to sit on. Music is a plus point (Curtis Mayfield and co. on an MP3 player that you can see the staff select the songs on), but overall it's worth knowing about only if you find yourself stumped and thirsty at closing time in the area, or want to meet for a mixture of eating and drinking.
