picture of Golden LionWhilst its interior may not quite match its exuberant exterior, this one's worth a pop should you find yourself idle in St. James's with no Club membership to fall back on. The Nicholson's chain pride themselves on their traditional food and drink selection, though the local office clientele keep this one from being too much of a touristy 'ye olde pubbe'. It does get pretty crowded straight after work, but quietens down as the commuters wend their weary ways home and the place relaxes somewhat. There's also an upstairs room with a balcony where, if it's not packed with smokers, you can get a unique bird's eye perspective on the local life.
