picture of Old China HandOnce it was the great O'Hanlon's, then it was the average Mulligan's. Now, this one's the Old China Hand. "No ordinary London pub" it proclaims outside and for once the advertising has a point. The unique selling point of this one is real ale & dim sum - a combination few pubs promise so perhaps this one sees a gap in the market. The food is simple but effective and the regular guest beers, which usually include something from the O'Hanlons range, are top notch. There are also two fridges filled with scores of different bottled beers from around the world to sample. Alas, the interior isn't to everyone's taste, with wooden furnishings out of Lord of the Rings (or at least Waxy O'Connors): strange stumpy stools and tables. But here you have somewhere attempting to stand out from the other pubs of the area and for that at least, you've got to give this one some credit.

Eating at the Old China Hand ... we last ate here on 17/2/2006

Predominantly Dim Sum, all around the £4 mark and a selection of 3 larger noodle dishes for £6-7. All very good indeed.
