picture of Coach and HorsesOne of the most historic sites in Stokey, The Coach & Horses has recently had a facelift. Gone are the TV screens and 'old man' interior, in are windows that you can actually see through, a spruced-up bar and a beer selection that includes Adnam's and Spitfire. The pub still draws a mixed crowd, but there's definitely a warmer welcome than previously, when you could expect to be stared out as soon as you stepped through the door. Now, the bar staff are friendly, the crisps are in date and the pub is a place you don't mind sipping a pint in. The Thai menu has expanded too, with some good-value Sunday lunches thrown into the bargain. This pub is trying to kick out its old, 'no-one likes us, we don't care' image so it can cash in on the many jagged-haired 20/30-somethings now stampeding to Stokey. It's succeeding in part and certainly better than it was, but the competition in the area is fierce.

Eating at the Coach & Horses ... we last ate here on 29/07/2007

Although we've yet to try to Thai food, the Sunday Roast at £8.95 was pretty good, with decent meat and fresh veg.
