This famous old pub is trying very hard to deny its roots, it does a lot of the bar stuff - lots of pretty coloured drinks on shelves, you get your change on a tray, a napkin under your pint and higher than average priced booze (for the area) - but the Victorian building it's in and the commonplace range of beers on the pumps gives the game away. The bright young things who frequent this place, who come here to see and be seen, also gamely try to foster the cocktail bar illusion, but The Met it ain't. So, maybe not as classy as it thinks it is, but dependable enough all the same.
