When people talk about how much they love Stoke Newington Church Street, it would appear it only applies to two thirds of the road. For right at the end, in a fantastic location overlooking Clissold Park, lies the Robinson Crusoe. This big, wide 60s built pub looks similar to an Eastern European Skiing lodge from the outside. From the inside, however, it's just another locals' pub, complete with peeling wallpaper and various local 'characters' inhabiting their regular seats. Its proximity to Arsenal (even though it's a bit of a walk) means there is an Arsenal motif throughout the pub, ranging from the beermats to the Arsenal song sheet by the bar. Still, the staff were friendly and the beer and food cheap - especially for the area. But alas, on this particular warm summers day Clissold Park soon lured us away.
