how to find it:

It's quite a long way from any tube station. From Highbury tube leave the tube station and walk into Highbury fields and walk to the far end, up the hill. Walk past the tennis courts and you'll come to a little clock tower, walk past that to the main road (Highbury Park) the pub is a short way up on the right.

picture of The Highbury Barn TavernBefore a refurb in the second half of 2006 this was apparently a rather unpleasant place to have a drink. Now however, it's a somewhat generic but perfectly pleasant and surprisingly spacious pub; we found the back section to be a cosy place to settle. Still popular on match days (even if the stadium has moved further away now) at other times of the week there's a pretty mixed crowd in place, a couple of ales on tap and some reasonably priced pub grub. Not one to make a beeline for, it serves the regulars and locals well and would make a good starting (or perhaps finishing) point for a Blackstock Road pub crawl.
