The old Coach & Horses in the market was given the inevitable stripped-out gastropub treatment and, we feel It probably deserved it - the old one was never up to much. The beer and food is good - eg Speckled Hen and guest beers on the hand pumps. for instance, accompanied by a range of continentals such as Amstel, Paulaner. It's quite comfy with its settees, easy chairs and newspapers, the music is decent and there's a relaxed vibe - when it's not crowded, although if it's warm enough you can always sit outside. Prices are tourist high, which some may find off-putting but there are enough well-off locals to fill the place on a Saturday night. Market days will see it packed with tourists and shoppers and on Friday and Saturday nights younger locals having a few pre-club drinks.
