A nicer location in London would be hard to find. Nestled in 'Totteridge Village' this large old building with its own pond has been a pub since the 18th century. Our last review in 2003 described this as a good pub, perfect for afternoon summer drinking, but time waits for no-one and its now a restaurant and bar. The wooden beams are still present, but the spruced up interior could be described as post-traditional; a Harvester 2.0, if you will. The front of house man, who successfully charmed everyone who came through the door, helpfully told us that the copper topped tables were those designated for drinking: we counted an underwhelming seven of them. We noted that at one point all of those tables we're filled with people waiting to eat, while others stood for the same purpose. Although we were welcome as drinkers and despite a couple of good ales available, we couldn't shake the feeling we were in a restaurant.
