picture of Sutton ArmsA while ago now, this handsome pub was given the refurbishment it deserved and was brought up to 21st century standards with a bit of style and the right sort of attention to detail. On the hand pumps we have well-kept beers, and on tap a decent range of beers and lagers including including Belgian beer, there's a decent wine-list and a pretty imaginative and well-presented food menu. The décor is a little eclectic with its plaster busts etc, but the place feels much more comfortable than its previous incarnations and is much more in keeping with the building (and its environs) - and for this we salute the owners. The upstairs restaurant has now taken on the role of lounge/restaurant, hinting at a more leisurely approach to the excellent menu, but judging from how busy it was last time we were in it's not hurt business. And now it's open for Sunday lunch.

Eating at the Sutton Arms ... we last ate here on 15/6/2006

good steaks (well it is Smithfield) and plenty of other choices for carnivores. Veggies are less well catered for here.
