Maid of Muswell, Muswell Hill  

Refurbished and gastrofied in the last couple of years, the Maid of Muswell is another feather in the cap of the MB chain. The décor is pretty standard for the genre, but it's clean and comfy. As with others in the chain, the emphasis isn't entirely on the food and the beer's been given plenty of consideration. There are always interesting real ales on the hand pumps, including guest beers, quite a few weißbiers and ciders and a decent wine list to accompany your food. The food itself ranges from modern snacks, through ciabattas and main courses to an excellent full Sunday dinner. There was even a barbecue in motion on our visit. Despite the trendification and probably due to the lack of any other real competition in the area, it still attracts a fair few older locals and the odd lone old man. Still, a welcome addition to the area.
