From Charing Cross: Leave the station by the main entrance into the Strand and turn right. Pub is a short walk up on the left just before the junction with Waterloo Bridge. From Covent Garden, turn right along Long Acre and walk to the mini-roundabout. Turn right down Bow Street and walk to the end, it's right on the corner.

Big old pub with a spruced up Edwardian interior. Surprisingly empty, given crowds in the street around and its prime position. Everyone on their way into Covent Garden must pass this pub. A pretty decent pint of Bass and an OK wine list. Upstairs, there's a pretty large area with loads of seating. Waves of people passed in and out (at the expected times) but didn't substantially alter the fairly relaxed mood of the place. The story is a little different on a Friday nights as its prominent corner location makes it ideal for people meeting to enter theatreland and Covent Garden, but even then it's not as mobbed as some of the others. Oh, and now it does breakfast!
