how to find it:
Notting Hill Gate: Leave the station by the exit for Portobello Road and proceed down Pembridge Road until you get to Portobello Road. Head down Portobello Road and it's about 5-7 minutes walk on the left. Ladbroke Grove: Cross the road and turn right. When you reach Elgin Crescent, turn left until you reach Portobello Road. Turn right and the pub is just there.

This small pub is friendly enough any night during the week, but suffers overcrowding (like they all do in Portobello Road) on a market day. It's definitely more of a boozer compared to virtually all the other watering holes in these parts. Pavement seating and Sky Sports attract a few punters in, but the long standing clientele of this one would still be propping up the bar if either were taken away. If pubs for you are just outlets for the dispensing of real ales, then there might not be much to interest you here. On the other hand, if you see pubs as friendly spaces for a bit of banter, give this one a look. If Notting Hill really is a village, then this place is Exhibit A in the case for the defence.
