how to find it:

Come out of Finchley Central, head for the ticket desk and come out of the station, turn left up the hill and cross over at the traffic lights. The Central is right in front of you on the corner of Nether Street.

picture of The CentralThe Central serves pints, hence its inclusion in Fancyapint?, but calling it a pub, or even a bar, is probably stretching that description a little far. It's actually more reminiscent of a student union in a technical college - all metal and angular with lots of standing space - especially as the clientele were almost exclusively under 21. The service was pleasant enough, even if they were more interested in playing with the toddler running around behind the bar than finishing to pour our Guinness. Saying that, the place seems to serve its customer's needs well enough, with plentiful cheap food and more magazines to read than you see in most dentist's waiting rooms. They even have a deli next door, which isn't actually part of the pub, but bears the same name. Quiet on our afternoon visit, we're quite sure it picks up considerably on Friday and Saturday nights.
