Being the Brewery Tap for Fuller's - London's last big brewer - there was some understandably high hopes for the Mawson Arms, which also confusingly still retains some signs from when it was called the Fox & Hounds. A mere stones throw from Fuller's flagship pub the George and Devonshire, this is a perfectly nice pub rather let down by location. Facing a large, ugly roundabout on the busy Chiswick Road, its not one that gets much passing trade. Those who were there on our Friday night visit consisted mainly of older men - more than one drinking alone - and consequently the atmosphere was somewhat lacking. Service however was very friendly and the beer range as well kept as you'd hope this close to source. Not one to make a beeline for, it is however only minutes away from a very nice stretch of the Thames so is certainly worth taking a small detour for if you're taking a riverside stroll, or indeed taking a guided tour of the brewery.
