how to find it:

From Kings Cross: Cross Euston Road, avoiding the junkies, prostitutes and other assorted weirdoes and proceed down Grays Inn Road, past the Scala. Walk down to the first left and turn into Swinton Street, the pub is a little way along on your right. From Chancery Lane: Take the Grays Inn Road exit from the station and turn right into it. Walk up Grays Inn Road for about ten minutes and turn right into Swinton Street, the pub is a little way along on your right.

picture of SwintonsAnother step on the road from King's Cross to Regent Quarter, the old King's Head has been remodelled into this 'dining pub' (in old money - bar and restaurant). Much thought has been given to the lengthy wine list and with the ales you can choose from London Pride and a regular rotating guest (recent choices including Spitfire, Black Sheep and Landlord). Can't fault the place for its food: the lunchtime choice is wider and cheaper than most of the foodie haunts we've come across. The pub is also available for hire at weekends. It's all very pleasant though fans of an old style pub experience might not feel too comfortable with it. Still, what with the new Eurostar connection to King's Cross, we wouldn't be surprised if more and more of the pubs round these parts evolve into places like this one. Wonder if the nearby Flying Scotsman will become London's first Strip Gastropub?
