A piano in one corner, a real fire in the other and the pub cat meowing contentedly in the background - is this an untouched backstreet boozer we've discovered? Well, not quite, as this one's had the decorators in and relaunched as a gastropub. On first impressions, the makeover appears a bit different from your usual pub redesigns, with an all-white look to the place. Admittedly though, the British flag and imposing portrait of William IV do catch the eye, although we're a bit mystified about the stuffed birds. Off-peak, its rather quiet and we're intrigued to know if the upstairs restaurant will entice some of the foodies who flock to Jamie Oliver's nearby 'Fifteen'. Our first few visits to this place were enjoyable enough, but when we last stopped by we were far from impressed: all the beers were off, both ladies toilets were out of order and the disabled toilet not only had a busted lock but also played host to the pub cat's litter tray. Not good enough.
