The Bull & Last is very much in keeping with its quietly prosperous location, but judging from our visit, plays host to a range of punters, whether they be locals or walkers parched after a stroll across Parliament Hill. Down the road in Kentish Town, there's been a spate of pubs going gastro. This one though, had placed an emphasis on food for a good few years and, despite the stripped out interior, there's still a pub feel to proceedings (especially with the upstairs dining room taking care of the food part of the equation). The London Pride tasted fine on our last visit and a lengthy wine list is worthy of investigation. Where this one also scored over similar pubs was in the approachability of its staff and the variety of music aired over the CD player. Simple stuff, but done well. Just like this pub.
