picture of GriffinPeople might feel sorry for this pub because it looks so run down, standing on the corner of a largely barren plot in an otherwise built-up area. We love it for this: its a good antidote against other nearby pubs and bars which are slowly being refurbished and sanitised, formularising the heart and soul out of the pub-going experience. For us, it's eccentric places like the Griffin that make going to the pub worthwhile. We hope it stays that way and given it's popularity with a mix of regulars and Hoxtonites, we can't see any good reason to change it. Indeed, it goes to show you don't need to strip a pub out to attract a young, lively crowd. The range of drinks on offer is usual pub fare - a couple of ales (sometimes on, sometimes off) and the usual lagers. Service can be brusque at busy times, but we forgive them. Decent jukebox, too - when there isn't a DJ on, at least.
