how to find it:

From Leicester Square: Go into the Square itself and head toward the Swiss Centre (you'll know it by the bells hanging on the outside which go off every hour) just before you get to it, turn right into Leicester Street and it's at the end. From Piccadilly: Again, head toward Leicester Square. When you get to the Swiss Centre, go past it and turn left into Leicester Street - can't miss it.

picture of Crooked Surgeon (ex-Hogs Head)A refit and a rename for this one. It now claims to be 'the best local pub in the Square' - we'd think it's probably the second best, but given the All Bar One / Wetherspoon competition that's not saying much. This pub's what you'd expect in the middle of London's major tourist magnet: it gives you the basics of a pub and will probably do the job as somewhere to meet your mates for a couple rather than somewhere to stay for the night. The lure of pool tables upstairs may entice in a few punters, but aside from that it's just a rather transient West End pub.
