If you received a pound for each tourist spotted during a day in Oxford and spent it on beer, it would be fair to say that there would be some slurring of words by closing time. The Kings Arms, which has been keeping its patrons refreshed for more than 400 years, is worthy of consideration by these aforementioned visitors and locals alike. As of any Young's establishment you're guaranteed a decent range of ales, while there are also regular guests on offer. Your next decision has to be which of the four rooms to sit in. The most interesting is the small, enclosed area at the back which until 1973 was a male only bar, but now provides a snug option for all-comers. It seems like the perfect spot for a cold winter's day, while in the height of summer there are tables outside at the front. Numerous photos adorn the walls throughout the pub, with Morse and Oxford graduate Alan Bennett among those on show, while there is an interesting range of old Guinness posters near the front door. Let's raise our glasses to 400 more years.
