In a town that appears largely to be given over to yachting (and secondarily to selling antiques and beer-drinking), this pub is just beyond the main area that tourists would tend to wander around, by the waterfront or the lovely clock tower. As such, it caters to a mixture of regular locals and casual visitors, and both for those after a pint (a couple of real ales on the hand pumps), or those after a meal (or just a bar snack) as well. The public bar has a pool table, while the saloon bar seems more geared to eating than drinking. A friendly family-run place, an agreeable red-brick building, and a small (if, like much of Burnham, intermittently wind-swept) beer garden on the patio. Put it all together, and you've got a perfectly acceptable hostelry just a couple of minutes' walk from the water.
