A cosy little locals pub for local people, but don't worry, this isn't Royston Vasey. For over 20 years, this has been a family-run establishment, however recently it was taken over by Brains. We've been assured that not much will change, but the shame of it is that, until now, they've happily had 7 hand pumps with guest beers - after the changeover it will be down to three regular beers, all Brains' own. At least the beer will still be good, but we'd still prefer the choice. The rather tipsy regulars we spoke were of the opinion that the place would be gutted and turned into a chrome and leather masterpiece. We don't think this will happen, the new owners have taken it over to keep it doing what it does best: being a proper pub for locals and visitors alike. The food is of a decent standard - ranging from fajitas to proper steak with hand-cut chips, we also had a rather rich crab risotto, but they were all superb. And if you're worried about the changes happening to this pub, we'll be back to see if it much has changed.
