First off, let make one thing clear: they call themselves a "dining pub", so don't expect a quaint olde pubbe experience, despite it's picture perfect location in Old Warden. What it does have, though, is a lovely beer garden which slopes gently up from a pleasant decked area onto a well-kept lawn and then up to some woodland at the back. It's a lovely place to spend the afternoon. Inside, it's refurbished in a contemporary style and even if fairly well done, you don't get a country pub atmosphere - we could have easily been in an vaguely upmarket city centre restaurant almost anywhere. Although much of the space is now dedicated to diners, the right hand bar still retains a memory of the old pub it once was, with a large fireplace and a trio of ales to choose from. Food isn't cheap (Roasted Pigeon £14.00, desserts £6), but it did look rather tasty. We're going to give a three pint rating, based in no small part on the lovely garden and good service. Hopefully it can retain this after we return to try the food.
