The Nether Inn is a large, cool, funky place favoured by students and faculty of the University of Dundee and artists from the nearby Dundee Cultural Arts society. To pacify its young clientele, a wide range of beers, ciders, ales and burgers are on offer. For impoverished students there is half price Cocktail Night every Tuesday at 8pm and Quid Night on Thursdays serving drinks for a pound. Before drink has eroded manual dexterity, one may enjoy a game of billiards on one of the two crimson billiard tables. Architectural oddities such as exposed steel work and pipes are left over from the building's former life as a textile works, which also explains the high ceilings and large skylights. At the weekends the Nether Inn is packed with a young crowd shouting over an excessively loud DJ. But during the week it's a fine place to have a quiet drink surrounded by post-adolescents frowning over maths or Chaucer.
