Of the two pubs in the little village of Northaw, the Sun is the more 'local' of the two. Slatted wood panelling, velour bench seating and a metal gantry shouted out 'traditional', albeit in a 1970's way. A handful of jovial regulars propped up the bar, while a DVD seller chanced his arm; we did wonder what he was doing this far from civilisation, though. The people behind the bar were uniformly friendly and Redcat's companion wasn't accustomed to being called 'madam' by a pub's kitchen staff. There's a very reasonably priced Sunday lunch available and half the tables had tablecloths and cutlery on them to evidence this. No-one was eating however, so we'll have to return to test the quality of the fayre. The London Pride was in fair nick and the large back garden was significantly better than it's nearest rival. Perhaps not everyone's idea of a destination pub, we had a soft spot for it here so award it an admittedly generous three pint rating.
