picture of Black HorseDating from the 14th century, The Black Horse is a quintessential English country pub. The main room is flagstoned, furnished with benches and settles, rifles and tankards adorn the walls and there's a log fire to gather around come winter time. Local beers and ciders are dispensed straight from the cask by friendly bar staff, and the pub food is, as you'd imagine, traditional (hot pot, ploughman's lunch etc). This one's been at the centre of the local community for many a year and, judging by our lunchtime visit - when locals of all shapes and sizes were making a beeline for it - it still very much is. You'll have to go some to find a better pub in Somerset.
