The Bear, Camberwell  

A relative newcomer, The Bear immediately impressed us with its range of adventurous beers, its menu range and its spacious, traditional interior. The pub's had a careful, sensitive refit, where weight and thought has been given to the food and drink options. It's a pub that's doing a lot of things right, but yet - judging by our visit - it hasn't struck a chord with its would-be clientele. Perhaps the drivers from the bus garage next door pop in when they finish their shifts, perhaps it picks up after dark, but going by our visit this one has yet to win over the locals. Once word spreads this one may prove a success: fingers crossed, as this one's doing a lot of things right.
