picture of Loaded DogScream pubs and students go together like badgers and TB, so it is no surprise that the Loaded Dog is positioned just at the end of University Road and near the house-share paradise of Evington. This is one of the chain's larger venues, with a cavernous main section and two smaller, more comfortable areas either side of the front door. The chain's formula of big screens, pool tables and video jukebox is very evident, with a surprisingly big drinks selection and late licence (until 2am at weekends) thrown into the mix. It took several boozy visits to discover the small back yard, though the view won't make it onto any postcards of the city. The front left section, set up to resemble someone's living room, is perhaps the prime spot - especially for watching TV. A deer's head is among the decorative touches. Perhaps not a place for pub purists, but a lively option that we quite like.
