Formerly the uninspiring Pint Pot, this place has been spruced up and appears to be making a concerted effort to distinguish itself in the recently erupted Paint Wars affecting the pubs in the area. The place has been done up, got some new (mismatched, of course) furniture and is trying to hard to keep hold of the punters. On our recent visits, there has been free food served up during Happy Hour (deep fried nibbley lovelies if you ask) and plenty of it. However, the place did noticeably quieten once happy hour ended. Although there are plenty of tables it's not conducive to chatting as the music is usually blaring rather loudly of an evening. What it might be good for is sports: they've got a big screen and the place is set up well for that sort of thing. In reality the place has the feel of a slightly more mature student union, which given its proximity to UCL it may turn out to be. Its early days, and let's hope it can retain the very enthusiastic staff and the service levels past the festive periods when pubs turn into extended office parties and make them unbearable for all but Accounts Receivable. We'll be back to see this one after Christmas and keep you posted.
