Fancyapint? couldn't give a XXXX about reviewing pubs in Australia just yet, but Botany Bay is on our radar as long as we're talking about the small hamlet of the same name in Middlesex. Named after the place where Captain Cook landed with the HMS Endeavour in 1770, the lack of water here would've made it hard for him to sail into the car park of the Robin Hood in a quest for a pint. This fairly generic McMullen's pub might not set pulses racing, but it is certainly a pleasant enough place. Where it really scores highly and becomes worth a trip is when the weather allows use of the large, mature beer garden. The fact remains, though, that almost every potential punter it is a car ride away. One of the few local amenities of interest is the farm shop next door, handy for any quail egg or beetroot chutney emergencies. If that doesn't impress, Botany Bay even has its own Jazz Club. We thought we'd mention it as they're not the type to blow their own trumpet.
