how to find it:

From Camden tube, exit onto the high street and turn right. Walk up for a few minutes and once passed the canal, the Stables Market is on the left. Its a bit of a labyrinth in the market so you're best asking someone from there.

picture of At ProudReviews of 'At proud', don't really do it justice, as you have to really see it to appreciate it. Established by music promoter legend Vince Power, all the stops have been pulled out to make this a 'destination' venue. Everyday you'll find something taking place, with live music and DJs usually in action. To get your fill of culture is the adjacent 'Proud' gallery, but the big draw is the enormous roof terrace, currently decked out in a surreal wonderland theme, complete with a giant chess set, colourful murals and views over the Camden skyline. Seating consists mainly of deckchairs and blow-up beds. Considering its predominantly an outside venue, last winter saw it transformed into a kitsch alpine chalet to keep out the elements; we wonder what's in store for Winter 2007. Sponsorship is rather over-prominent, while some might argue its trying a little too hard to be cutting edge, but you'd be hard pushed to find anywhere else like this in London. There's a wide mix of young people here, some more amusing than others - expect plenty of hipsters with straggly hair and tight jeans trying to look like they're in rock 'n' roll bands, along with blokey geezers, couples and tourists. Generally, though, it doesn't feel overly exclusive. Free during the day, watch out for door charges most evenings (except Sunday and Monday) as well as private parties who've rented out the entire space.
