sorry no picture of this pubLocated within spitting distance of Winchester Cathedral (not that we're recommending such a sacrilegious act), the Old Market Inn made an immediate impact on us with the sound of Highway to Hell accompanying our entrance. A plethora of rock tracks join this on the jukebox, with plenty of other genres also catered for, or to get a live music experience head down here for the monthly acoustic night. Younger locals provide most of the trade, though that isn't to say it is some kind of youth centre, and it is certainly handily placed for any visit to the city's historical sites. A minor concern was the barman's decision to wear a hat indoors (Pete Doherty has a lot to answer for), but his cheery acknowledgement as we left typified the friendly attitude from all the staff. We haven't sampled the food from the extensive Italian-influenced menu, but it certainly looked good and won't break the bank.
