picture of Hope and AnchorIf we had to put our finger on the most local and traditional looking pub in Hammersmith, the Hope and Anchor would be it. Away from passing trade just hidden off the high street, its one of those places which seems to have stopped updating the decor in about 1975 - and we don't necessarily mean that negatively. Perhaps because of these factors it's rather nice here, with an original 1930s, wood panelled, grade II listed interior. Previously catering for the residents of the attached pre-war council estate, it's recently moved to establish itself as a gay pub. However, popping our heads around the door on a Tuesday night showed only two customers in the whole place. Perhaps it gets more busy towards the weekend - it really needs to.
