how to find it:

From Mile End tube exit left, cross the road and turn right onto Grove Road. Walk up and eventually you'll reach Roman Road. Turn right and Young Prince is about 500m over on the right.

picture of Young PrinceThe Young Prince is a pleasant little oddity a few minutes walk from Roman Road market. Seemingly sharing space with a Bathroom centre next door, this is a traditional style local's pub. Wood panelling and patterned carpets are the decoration and the back sports a small DJ booth and dart board complete with a working 1970s electronic dart scoring machine. Service is friendly and the punters amiable enough but the crowning glory is the lovely back garden, bordered in flowers which is a perfect sun trap. The one negative though is the quality of the beer - the amount of people sticking to bottles should've been a clue, but our Guinness, served in a dirty glass was certainly not left to settle for 119.5 seconds and didn't taste great either. So nearly a three, even if we like it here until the beer improves a two it has to remain.
