A recent(ish) refit has delivered a stripped-out affair, though at least with this one the furnishings complement the wood panelled walls. The interior seems to have been decorated with one or two choice objects from the run of antique shops opposite the pub. Its large, open plan size, suggests this one is ideal for bigger groups, and the beer garden out the back could prove a handy spot in the summer. Perhaps not the most original array of drinks to choose from, but the pint of Spitfire tasted great, so we can hardly complain. And although we didn't give the food a go, the large platefuls which passed us by, suggested we were missing out on something. Perhaps The Chancery's not the sort of pub that sets the pulses racing, but it's the sort of safe bet that's worth knowing about in the area.
