picture of Club BarThe area around Victoria station has a pretty poor choice of quality drinking establishments - standing in an overcrowded Wetherspoon filled with unimaginative commuters and tourists doesn't quite cut it for us, if truth be told. However, if you hanker after a more sophisticated environment, then the Club Bar - situated in the Thistle hotel - might just be the place. There's a certain unrushed elegance here; plenty of green leather and dark wood make it seem rather like a gentleman's club. Prices are correspondingly higher, but sometimes you pay for what you get and the even if the beer range is average - Boddingtons and Murphys on tap when we were in last - the (table) service and ambience make up for it.
