One of the more interesting names for a bar, Biddle Bros is one of those (few) establishments which chose to retain the signage of the property's former life. As in this case it used to be a hardware shop, we were rather sad not to see the builders theme carried on inside, although a bar filled with claw hammers and Nitromors perhaps wouldn't have been the best of ideas. Still, what there is instead is a bright and comfortable space decked out with distressed furniture and which does a good turn in live music. With events such as a Tuesday songwriters showcase and with indie, folk and reggae artists, the focus seems to be on acoustic performers. DJs playing some good tunes also make regular appearances. The range of customers reflects the music policy and it seems popular with the younger locals who live on the nearby Victorian back streets. Clapton lost its 'murder mile' notoriety a while back now and for us Biddle Bros is a good place to spend an evening.
