Housed in the baroque-style former Pearl Assurance building, Dr. Okells is a must for all beer aficionados in Leeds, whether lager or bitter is your preferred tipple. Named after the founder of the Isle of Man-based brewery, it has a range of the good doctor's own ales along with several guest options. Interesting fizzy choices on tap include Lindeboom pilsner, with a plethora of others in bottles from the wooden cabinets behind the bar. The only obstacle to grabbing a decent drink is the congestion around the bar, which quickly gets filled up on a busy evening, but it's worth ploughing through. The main seating area is up on the raised ground floor area, with several sofas and a few other tables and chairs dotted around. Reports you can order in Manx Gaelic are unsubstantiated.
