A handily located riverside pub that is a stone's throw from the railway station and a pretty decent introduction to the excellent quality the Norwich drinking experience can offer. During the summer the Angler's ample outside seating nicely sheltered away from the main road provides an enjoyably picturesque view of the river while the interiors plush carpets and comfortable chairs make for a decent retreat during the winter months. The taps have a good, if not spectacular selection, with a couple of ales propping up the usual tipples and a respectable food menu. The clientele tends to be a friendly mix of commuters and locals, although on Saturdays when Norwich City have a home game the Angler unsurprisingly hoovers up a few train bound away fans who are rather taken with singing loud songs about ladies from Venus. Bless them, though not everyone would agree. There is nothing about the Angler that is particularly spectacular, but it is a very pleasant, well-managed establishment that is a more than welcome stop-off point, whether for a traveller or a pub crawler.
