The bar at this, the founding branch of the Shish chain of "restaurants of the Silk Road" agreeably compliments the main eating area downstairs and the fancier one upstairs. Located on the first floor, and with floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall windows, there are superb views, relatively speaking, over Willesden Green and Brondesbury. There's an interesting range of bar snacks (where else, this side of Tajikistan, the two sister branches excluded, can you sample Dushanbe Dumplings?), a wide range of cocktails, with many house specialities, a decent range of wines, two lagers on tap and several more bottled lagers. The music, like the crowd that flock here, is some way on the right side of trendy pretentiousness: the bar seems particularly popular with couples, but by no means exclusively so. All in all, this is an agreeable oasis and a relaxed place to come for a drink. The restaurant is recommended, too-a pan-Asian slightly more upmarket version of Wagamama's, but perhaps with music that, on occasion, that can be just a little too intrusive.
