how to find it:

Walk down Broad Street from High Town and turn into East Street, then take the first right. Alternatively, take the passage from High Town next to MandS and cross East Street into Church Street.

sorry no picture of this pubThis pub, on a cobbled street near the Cathedral and High Town, was a model of consistency before suffering a downturn with a string of different managers. Things have improved again in recent years at the Lich, which is worthy of a stay for a few pints. Opened out into one room, it is not the biggest hostelry, but the decked back garden increases capacity during the summer months and obviously provides a home for smokers. It seems to attract quite a varied clientele, always has several real ales available and the food looks decent (but we're yet to try it).
