The take-over of this pub by Greene King has certainly raised the standards, particularly in Fitzrovia as you're spoilt for choice when it comes to pubs. The refurb has made a lot of difference, as the downstairs pub is more welcoming than it used to be, and friendly staff make all the difference. It does have an upstairs bar which doubles as a private function room (making it frequently closed) and, topping it all off is a handy roof garden. The upstairs room is a good size and its central location means its ideal for those birthday and works dos, hence it's pretty popular. Now relegated to smoking room status, the roof terrace is still a welcome relief in Summer. The pub does get busy at lunch and commuter times, but it's ideal for a quiet drink in the afternoon should you be in the area, or for a relaxed evening drink. (new picture to come)
