picture of MelangeAlthough the concept of 'Hoxton' is spreading further up the Kingsland Road, most people still don't venture as far up as triple digit street numbers. So while all the fashionistas debate the merits of 'Catch' and 'Juno', they're missing out on Melange (which means 'Mix' in French for those interested). Way up by the canal, you wouldn't know much goes on around here, save for the incessant construction of flats. The bar's interior its dark and sparse, with a scattering candles and couches, while the music seems to be whatever they fancy putting on; we were privy to a little light drum and base before a late-night tonal shift to some Ella Fitzgerald. The fliers promised everything live music to chocolate tasting and even asked us mere punters to come up with interesting event ideas. With service here considerably more friendly than most places down the road, Melange is certainly recommended. Afterwards, if you need to soak up some excess alcohol, nearby one can find the self-proclaimed oldest kebab shop in London.
