The Reedcutter is not really a typical Norfolk Broads pub: first, despite having a fairly remote location away from the centre of Cantley, down by the river and a big sugar factory, it now serves as the village's only boozer; second: it's rather spartan, if well-maintained, urban decor is more reminscient of Stoke Newington than rural Norfolk; and third, because its relative ease of accessibility (by boat-moorings just outside: by train; or even by road) permits visits from further afield, to their frequent evenings of live music, for example, or just for a meal. This rather unique mix of elements works surprisingly well; there were some lovely ales on the hand pumps when we visited too-a fine Norfolk stout by the somewhat un-Norfolk name of Roisin dubh, and also some Cornish ale too. This was a superbly relaxing location to while away an evening.
