how to find it:

This is deepest Norfolk, and there is only very limited public transport to Thurne. You almost certainly need a car, or a boat, or like long walks (and the Weaver's Way does pass nearby) to get here.

sorry no picture of this pubThe Lion's location at the head of a dyke with moorings on both sides, on the edge of a village near an attractive windmill, means that the pub would probably be busy in summer without making any particular efforts to attract custom. The pub has two fairly large rooms, and a separate games room with pool tables, as well as showering facilities appreciated by those in boats without them, and there is more seating outside too. As such, it's a popular family destination. It wouldn't be quite fair, however, to accuse the management of complacency: if this were so they wouldn't provide four real ales on the hand pumps, including the ubiquitous (round here) Woodeford's Wherry and the delicious Adnam's Explorer. Mind you, maybe it was because it was a busy Saturday night that we were here, but the Lion felt a little less quirky or characterful than some other Broads pubs and seemed just a little messy in places. Still, it's a pleasant enough place to while away some time over some pints.
