Temperance seems an unlikely name for a pub, considering the Temperance Society is opposed to all forms of alcohol, but here it is. Its actually named after a Temperance Billiard Hall that once resided here but we doubt many will be taking the pledge, due to the excellent choice of alcohol available, including a non-standard selection of Belgium and German Beers. The real ale choice wasn't bad either. Once a grotty O'Neill's, this large, impressive space - which still retains some of its art nouveau glasswork - has finally been given the treatment it deserves. One side is a restaurant section, while the relaxed drinking section is around the central bar and upstairs in the rafters. The decor is dark, moody and sophisticated - not unique but done pretty well here. We've yet to try the menu, but it was clear thought had been put into it. It was also clear that the staff were on their best behaviour - friendly and professional to a fault. Only open for a very short time, so far we're happy to report everything is being done pretty well here - a good addition to the area.
